New Couch for Black Friday? Payne-less Junk Removal Explains What to Do With the Old One.

Payne-less Junk Removal And Dumpster Rental · Warr Acres, OK · ·

Black Friday falls on November 27 this year, and for a lot of Oklahoma City families it's the day the new sectional, mattress, refrigerator or TV finally comes home. There's just one problem: the old one has to go somewhere.

Here's how to clear out the old stuff so you can enjoy the new stuff, without spending the holiday weekend hauling furniture.

Option 1: City bulky waste pickup

Oklahoma City's monthly bulky waste pickup is a good fit for one or two items. The city collects the first 4 cubic yards at no extra charge. Piles of 4 to 10 cubic yards are billed on your utility bill, and anything over 10 cubic yards needs approval first. Items can go to the curb no more than three days before your pickup date, and refrigerators or freezers with freon need a call ahead.

The catch is timing. If your pickup date is weeks away, that old couch may sit in the garage or by the curb through the holidays.

Option 2: Call Payne-less

For anything you want gone now, or more than a few pieces, the Payne-less junk removal team does the heavy lifting. They haul furniture, appliances, construction debris, yard waste and general clutter from homes and businesses across the metro. You point, and they load.

Pricing is based on how much space your items take up in the dumpster, and the estimate includes the first ton. The standard Payne-less dumpster is about 14 by 7 by 4 feet, roughly ten pickup truckloads, so most holiday cleanouts fit easily.

Your old things don't automatically head to the landfill, either. Whenever possible, Payne-less recycles, donates or reuses items, so that gently used dresser may find a new home of its own.

Make room before the guests arrive

Many families use the week before Thanksgiving to clear out the garage, guest room or storage closet. A clean space means room for visitors, holiday decorations and all those new purchases. Book early, since the days around the holidays fill fast.

After the holidays: boxes, wrap and trees

Black Friday and Christmas leave plenty of packaging behind. A few tips for Oklahoma City residents:

  • Cardboard: Break down boxes and place them loose in your Big Green recycling cart.
  • Wrapping paper: Glittery or foil wrap, bubble wrap and foam belong in your Big Blue trash cart, not recycling.
  • Christmas trees: In past years, the city has offered free tree mulching at Will Rogers and Wheeler parks after Christmas. Trees must be free of lights, ornaments, nails, stands and flocking. Watch the city's website for this year's dates.

If the boxes, broken decorations and replaced furniture pile up faster than your carts can handle, a dumpster rental or a single junk removal visit takes care of it all at once.
