How do I know the money goes where it's needed?
Every campaign is confirmed by the pet's own licensed veterinarian, and Fund Fido checks each clinic's license. Donations go straight to the clinic, never to a personal account. Fund Fido is for families who applied for CareCredit and Scratchpay and weren't approved, and for rescue groups.
How are campaigns funded?
The owner starts a campaign with their pet's story. Starting a campaign is free. Their vet confirms the care and enters the cost estimate, and the goal covers that estimate plus the 3% platform fee, rounded up to the next $100. Friends, family and the community give online.
How are vet offices paid?
Through Stripe, straight to the clinic's bank. Vets can get paid for each part of the care as it's done, or all at once when the campaign ends, less the 3% platform fee. Deposits usually arrive within 2 business days.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Donations made through Fund Fido are considered personal gifts and may not be considered tax deductible. It's best to check with a tax professional. Please note Fund Fido doesn't send tax receipts. If you donate to a campaign associated with a 501c3 organization, it's the responsibility of that organization to provide tax receipts.
What happens if a campaign doesn't reach its goal?
The vet decides. They can accept what was raised and work out the rest with the owner, or end the campaign so donors get their gift back as Fund Fido credit (less card processing of 2.9% + 30 cents) to help another pet.
What if I haven't visited a veterinarian yet?
Fund Fido needs a vet to confirm the care. If it's an emergency, go to an emergency or urgent-care vet first. When you're ready, start a campaign and pick your vet. If they aren't on Fund Fido yet, Fund Fido will invite them, and you can send them a short note from your dashboard.
